JACK DOYLE (HE/HIM) – STORY, BOOK, & LYRICS
Jack Doyle has loved the fantasy genre ever since his father bought him a toy version of Frodo’s sword (Sting) at the Renaissance Festival when he was four. Growing up, he roped his neighborhood friends into putting together an elaborate fantasy film series, that they would film a new installment of every summer. To him, Space Quest feels like an evolution of everything he grew up loving and creating. Originally from Saginaw, Michigan, Jack attended the University of Michigan where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Design and Production and a minor in Creative Writing. Previous theatrical writing credits include “The Unauthorized Peter Johnson Parody!” (Book & Lyrics) and “IT’S ALIVE: ON STAGE!” (Book & Story). In addition to writing, Jack is also a director, performer, and a scenic designer. In his free time, Jack enjoys going to theme parks, abusing his AMC A-List membership, and working on his debut YA Fantasy novel “Vaultura”.

After this realization, she dedicated herself to envisioning interesting and dynamic fantasy stories that highlight characters stepping outside of the genre’s longstanding tropes. When not possessed by Princess Morgana, she performs long-form and musical improv, and writes about fandom culture and happenings. Previous theatrical writing credits include “The Unauthorized Peter Johnson Parody!” (Book & Lyrics) and “IT’S ALIVE: ON STAGE!” (Book & Story).

JOSHUA MOORE (HE/HIM) – STORY, MUSIC & LYRICS

From the moment he quit piano lessons at age six, Joshua Moore had chased the glorious high that was messing around with the different samples produced by his teacher’s Clavinova. He experimented with chord progressions on his sister’s ukulele, honed his taste by listening to a diverse lineup of composers (of whom half their works were attached to the video game Josh happened to be playing at the time), and eventually performing in musical theatre. Though Joshua would rediscover the value of a more formal music education in his high school and college days at The University of Michigan, nothing could have prepared him for his first opportunity to write songs for an original, full-length musical — let alone the two others he would go on to write within the same year-long span alongside his new friends. Space Quest was the third original musical from that period, and represents for Joshua a fantasy realized: the privilege of sharing his love for music, epic fictions, and his friends with an audience. Further credits include “IT’S ALIVE: ON STAGE!” (Music and Lyrics) and “The Unauthorized Peter Johnson Parody!” (Music and Lyrics). As he works towards his BA in Film, Television, and Media at University of Michigan, Josh continues to enjoy acting, scoring, and producing student films!

SOME MORE LORE…
Jack, Nina, and Josh all grew up in the same town of Saginaw, Michigan. They shared the stage for the first time in their high school production of “Grease” in 2018, before all going on attend The University of Michigan. There, they continued their love for theatre and their close friendships by collaborating on Northern Town Parodies, a production company focusing on parodies and original comedy-musicals. They were awarded the 2022 EXCEL Prize ($10,000) and the 2022 optiMize Project Grant and fellowships ($10,000) to self produce their first original musical in Chicago, IL in July 2022. Shortly after, they decided they wanted to create a musical that combined elements of epic fantasy and science fiction. Using their infamous powers of telepathy, Jack and Nina both wrote the title “Space Quest!” in separate notes apps. Plot details were hashed out while driving to a Stevie Nicks concert, and the rest is history. While not collaborating, Jack, Nina and Josh are likely to be found together at a theme park or having movie nights that eventually turn into brainstorming sessions.
