IN SOME HOLE IN THE GROUND, IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY….
Newly weds ANDROMEDA, a writer who has never finished a story, and GLENN, a map maker who is terrified of leaving home, both dream of exploring the galaxy. When their ship is hijacked by a duo of wanted smugglers, they are swept away on an unexpected quest to save the galaxy
Their quest: retrieve the lost relics of the Grand Mage YODALF before the forces of evil find them first. Together, they must face fearsome beasts, prophetic princesses, and a mysterious DARK LORD.
Andromeda and Glenn quickly learn that the galaxy is much bigger, and even more dangerous, than they ever could have dreamed.
“Space Quest” is both a laugh-out-loud musical comedy celebrating everything you know and love about science fiction and fantasy and a heartfelt tale about continuing to grow after you live “Happily Ever After.”
Our Quest
Fresh off the success of their first original musical, The Unauthorized Peter Johnson Parody!, Jack Doyle and Nina Groll wanted to create something centered around science fiction and fantasy.
Space Quest premiered in Ypsilanti, Michigan in July 2023 after a 10 week developmental workshop and rehearsal process at the Riverside Arts Center with 20 original songs and a cast of 10.
In 2024, Nina and Jack decided to take Space Quest across the country to reach a wider audience. Space Quest ran for three performances at the 2024 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Directed by Anna Rudnitsky, this production featured an ensemble cast of 9 actors, 4 new songs, and over a dozen puppets.
